The European Community's initial report under the Kyoto Protocol
EEA Technical report No 10/2006

Released: 2007/02/02: See the report

Report to facilitate the calculation of the assigned amount of the European Community pursuant to Article 3, paragraphs 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol Submission to the UNFCCC Secretariat

Abstract:
This EEA report constitutes the main part of the European Community's submission of its initial report to the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The report establishes the assigned amount for the European Community (EU-15), and demonstrates its capacity to account for its emissions and assigned amount for the first commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol: 2008-2012. The assigned amount for EU-15 is set to 19 682 548 287 tonnes of CO2-equivalents for the 2008-2012 period. The assigned amount corresponds to the EU-15 target of reducing emissions by 8% under the Kyoto Protocol.
