Analysis and comparison of national and EU-wide projections of greenhouse gas emissions, EEA Topic report No 1/2002

Released: 2002/09/01: See the report

Progress on combating climate change is assessed by comparing projections of greenhouse gas emissions for 2010 with the Kyoto Protocol (burden sharing) targets for the EU and the Member States as required under the EU greenhouse gas monitoring mechanism (99/296/EC). The report also compares national projections and EU-wide projections. Important differences were found between these two approaches, and further action is needed to improve the comparability, consistency and completeness of projections at national and EU level.
