Climate change and a European low-carbon energy system
EEA Report No 1/2005

Released: 2005/06/29: See the report

Abstract

This EEA report draws up scenarios of what changes would be needed to ensure a low global emissions future at the lowest cost. The report projects major changes in the energy sector, a sector currently responsible for 80 % of EU greenhouse gas emissions. More than half of the 40% emissions reductions needed by the EU would come from more efficient technologies and from using low-carbon fuels and more renewable energy. The remainder would be achieved by emissions trading.
