Submission to EMEP through the Executive Secretary of the UNECE
Abstract
This inventory report accompanies the annual emission inventory submission of the European Community to the UNECE Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution. The report presents an overview of air pollutant emission data reported by the EU-27 Member States between the years 1990 to 2005. Across the EU-27, the reported emissions of nitrogen oxides in 2005 have decreased by more than 34 %, and sulphur dioxide by around 70 % since 1990. Significant reductions have also occurred for other pollutants during this period. The emission reductions have taken place across many of the economic sectors reported by countries — transport, energy, agriculture and waste.
