Reporting requirements
The reporting of national data by countries within the context of EuroAirnet is fully integrated with the other EU legislative air quality reporting mechanisms. All these data is made available to the public in one integrated database system and accessible through a web based user interface: AirBase.
The Data Exchange Module (DEM) is used to report EuroAirnet data. The DEM has been developed for reporting several EU mandatory air quality data reporting obligations by the countries, and has been made fully compatible with the reporting requirements of EuroAirnet on network and stations meta-data. The deadline for reporting is 1 October each year on data of the previous measurement year, including the option to submit corrections on for earlier reported data.
Reporting requirements for air quality data to AirBase are based on three frameworks:
- Exchange of Information Decision (Council Decision 97/101/EC) and its Amended Annexes (2001/752/EC)
- The EU legislations, to be more specifically: compliance monitoring under EU Directives (Air Quality Framework Directive and its Daughter Directives)
- EuroAirnet requirements to some additional meta data. The most important are:
- type of exposure covered by the station
- representativeness area of the station
- data quality (QA/QC) procedure classification
