The new Air Quality Directive 2008/50/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe entered into force on 11 June 2008. It merged EoI Decision 97/101/EC ‘establishing a reciprocal exchange of information and data from networks and individual stations measuring ambient air pollution within the Member States’ and the Air Quality Framework Directive 96/62/EC with its Daughter Directives (except for its fourth Daughter Directive 2004/107/EC) into this new directive.
The rules for the reciprocal exchange of information and reporting on ambient air quality for Directives 2004/107/EC and 2008/50/EC are set out in the Commission Implementing Decision 2011/850/EU which comes into force on 1 January 2014. The Air Quality Portal is part of this implementation decision.
